If an object has a purpose inherent to it, then denying that object the means to fulfill its purpose is just wrong. If my liver exists to filter poison but I don’t imbibe that wonderful poison I am robbing Mr. Liver of his purpose in life. Every time I drink I am not punishing my liver, I am keeping him from having an existential breakdown.
